COUNCIL FOR ANGLOPHONE MAGDALEN ISLANDERS (CAMI)

 

 

CAMI is currently seeking applications for a Museum Greeter (1) to work at the Entry Island Heritage Museum. This position is anticipated for a period of 6 weeks with a salary of $12.00 / hour at 30 hours each week. This position is anticipated to begin on July 3rd, 2018. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30, have been a full time student in 2017-2018 and plan to return to their studies in September 2018.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The student will act as a Museum Greeter carrying the following duties:

  • Prepare the site and it’s infrastructures for the upcoming tourist season
  • Meet and greet visitors to the Museum
  • Describe artifacts, photos and other memorabilia on display
  • Outline the unique culture and heritage of the English-speaking community of the Islands pertinent to the Entry Island Museum in particular
  • Further develop the collection of artifacts
  • Explain the collection of memorabilia, veteran’s photos and family connections
  • Assist other employees with summer program: special exhibits, public relations and the overall operation of the site
  • Ensure the site is keep clean and presentable for visitors
  • Other duties as requested

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Functional French
  • Familiarity with computers, scanners and office equipment
  • Availability and mobility during the period of employment
  • Coordination skills and adaptability
  • Initiative
  • Excellent communication and public relation skills
  • Have a sound knowledge of the English-speaking community, it’s history and heritage
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
