The Community Innovation Fund has been a great success. For the 2017-2018 school year, two students were placed in work programs with local businesses. Ronnie Clarke was placed at Fibres de Verre Turnbull et Fils and Logan Chenell at Yamaha. Throughout the same school year, the grade 8 students at Grosse Ile High School, took part in a carpentry project where they built a green house and some garden boxes. While the high school students were busy building the greenhouse, the elementary students participated in some growing workshops with Jardin Harve Vert and prepared some plants for indoor planting. During this upcoming year, 2018-2019, two students are continuing on with the work program. Logan Chenell is once again at Yamaha doing small engine repairs while Zack Aitkens is learning carpentry at Matexco. Also, the grade 9 students are taking part in a carpentry program with Darrell Burke which has been incorporated in the school curriculum, taking place during their POP & art classes.
